San Diego Air and Space 2009 Hall of Fame

Here is the Sally Ride painting for the 2009 Hall of Fame in the Air and Space Museum. She was called to Washington D.C. by the president to sit on a panel discussing the future of space exploration by NASA and was unable to attend the induction dinner. Hope to meet her some day as she is here in San Diego and has an educational based company promoting engineering education for young women.

Changes

I have been away from the blog as of late and would like to take this opportunity to cover some of the happenings since my last post. For one there has been another induction group for the San Diego Air and Space Museum Hall of Fame. The last group I did included the following: Cliff Robertson, of movie fame, Frank Robinson of Robinson Helicopters, Malcolm and Allan Lockheed, founders of the Lockheed Corp., and Sally Ride, first American women in space. I will post photos of the paintings.
There was a new group of hall of fame inductees for the San Diego Hall of Champions Breitbard Hall of Fame, named after Bob Breitbard who founded the museum in 1945. Mr. B passed away recently at the age of 91, I will be forever thankful for the opportunity of being the Official Artist of his Hall of Fame. RIP Mr. B. The new group included Bob Larson, UCLA track and field and cross country coach, David Grayson, AFL-NFL defensive back, David Wells, pitching great, Greg Louganis, Olympic diving champion, JJ Fetter, Olympic sailing medal winner, and Community Champion, high school football coach, John Shacklett, whose granddaughter was one of my art students this last year. Small world.
Speaking of teaching art, the previous post showing me teaching Girl Scouts to draw Mickey Mouse has developed into a gig giving private art lessons to seven of the girls who attended the session. Their parents liked what they saw and asked me to conduct the lessons at the home of one of the parents. The girls will be attending the school I teach at and will be enrolled into my sixth graders art class.
I started back to school to be able to be moving towards compliance of No Child Left Behind Federal Law and maintain my teaching ability. I am enrolled in The Art Institute of Pittsburgh Online Division going after my BS Degree in Graphic Design, four classes so far and all A's.
After attending the latest Comic-Con convention here in San Diego I have opened a door of opportunity, that as projects come about I will list and show them, with a limited edition publishing company. Working on a few concepts, that if they go through will make some dreams come true.
I will post more as time permits.
